Cpolyacrylamids (PAM) include HPAM, CPAM and NPAM. They can be used as flocculating agent, thickening agent, paper strengthening agent etc., and are widely used in water treatment, paper making, petroleum, coals, textiles and construction etc.
Properties: Molecular formula: (CH2CHCONH2)r
PAM is easily soluble in water, almost insoluble in benzene, phenylethane, esters and acetone; its aqueous solution is almost transparent liquid; non-dangerous, non-toxic, non-corrosive; it has good thermal stability at 100oC, but will be decomposed at above 150oC. Density: (g)ml 23oC 1.302; glass transition temperature: 153oC.
